About Rita Jingo
Rita Jingo was born in Alice Springs, grew up in Jay Creek, Northern Territory. She learnt to paint from her parents and grand parents.
Learning from her Grandmother all about bush foods and how to recognise poisonous foods, how to dig for Tjala (honey ants), Tinka (sand goanna) and Maku (witchety grubs).
Rita’s family are strong family sharing with their kids two way, the way now and the way when she was little. “We learn from our culture, Inma (Ceremony), Ngurra (about country) then teaching our kids.”
