Awalari Esther Teamay was born in Irrunyjtu (Wingellina) Community, but has been living in Mutitjulu Community within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park for many years. She has had a long career working in research, land management and tourism within the Park, teaching her culture to visitors and others who come to work in her country. Awalari is also one of the senior singers for inma (traditional ceremony). Her husband Malya is a well-known artist and community leader, and they often work on their paintings together.
